Watch THIS IS WAR at Walterdale – Video Teaser

Walterdale Theatre is proud to present This is War by Hannah Moscovitch from Feb. 4 to 14, 2026. Watch the teaser video for the show:

Master Corporal Tanya Young, Captain Stephen Hughes, Private Jonny Henderson, and Sergeant Chris Anders lived through a violent botched mission while stationed in one of the most violent and war-torn sections of the Afghanistan War. This is War is told through their separate accounts to an unseen broadcasting corporation, and the truth isn’t always as simple as it seems as a picture is formed, painted by guilt, PTSD, nationalism and violence.

Director Shawn Marshall said he was drawn to this award-winning Canadian play because it deals with the complexity of human beings in high-stakes situations.

“Nothing tells a story better and captivates an audience more than honesty, and broken people from broken situations,” Marshall said. “Moscovitch ingeniously explores this idea in the highest-stakes situation possible: life or death.”

Moscovitch is a multi-award-winning playwright from Ontario whose catalogue includes Red Like Fruit, East of Berlin, What a Young Wife Ought to Know, and Bunny.

This performance contains mature content and potentially triggering content. Themes include adult language, sexual content (involving consent in a power-imbalanced dynamic), depictions of sexual assault, post-traumatic stress disorder, torture and war crimes, and reenactments of combat scenarios based on the Afghanistan War.

Running from Feb. 4 to 14 at 7:30 p.m. (Matinee at 2 p.m.) Walterdale Theatre 10322 83rd Avenue NW
