Walterdale Theatre’s Relaunch Committee was formed in June 2020 to investigate possible options for safely re-opening our space to theatre after the March Covid-19 lockdown ceased all theatre operations. Since our inception, we have been consulting government/AHS guidelines as well as best practices from other similar arts organizations.

Due to COVID-19 and Walterdale Theatre’s desire to continue offering in-person performances, we are updating our policies to keep audience members, staff and volunteers safe.

Walterdale’s Board has voted to change our COVID-19 restrictions to the following for our current season:

  • Masks are recommended and encouraged, but not mandated
  • We have set aside the Second Thursday of each run for a Reduced Capacity Performance. On this night Audience capacity will be 90 out of 140 seats

Restrictions are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and will be revised as necessary.

Walterdale Theatre acknowledges that our theatre is located on Treaty 6, a traditional territory of the Cree and has been an important trading place of the Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, Dene, and Métis peoples of western Canada for many thousands of years. We also recognize and honour that we are Treaty people and therefore seek to uphold the spirit and intent of this Treaty.
